Way of the Wolf is the first book in a multiple book series called Vampire Earth. Now erase any preconceptions you have about vampire books. This is not like Blade or Twilight or True Blood or any other vampire series you might be familiar with. Way of the Wolf is the story of a man named David Valentine and how he comes to join an elite brigade of renegade humans fighting the vampire overlords who rule earth in the near future. The Kurians, as these overlords are called, are an alien race from a distant planet who absorb the life forces of living animals, most notably humans. Each controls a small portion of land around the old cities of the world and enslave humans to work for, and feed, them.

Way of the Wolf introduces David in his journey to become a Wolf, a totem warrior trained by a small group of beings known as the ‘Lifeweavers’. They train humans in three totems, Wolf, Cat, and Bear, to fight the Kurians and end their reign over Earth. The story primarily follows David’s training as a Wolf and his journey to and fro across the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas on various missions. I don’t want to ruin anything about the latter parts of the book, suffice it to say that David journey’s deep into enemy territory. The Ozarks act as the ‘Free Territory’, the area free of Kurian rule in the southern part of the old United States. I would highly recommend this for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction, military fiction, and fantasy fiction in general.
